Head-On Collision Results in Fatality
According to the accident report filed by Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) Trooper Josh Wade, Elendt was driving her 1994 Plymouth north on Highway 641, when her vehicle veered into the southbound lane. The car struck the driver’s side of a southbound semi-truck driven by 54-year-old Michael Wood of Kentucky. Elendt’s vehicle then continued traveling north in the southbound lane and collided head-on with a 1996 Toyota driven by Schnepper. Several agencies reported to the scene of the deadly collision, including three Highway Patrol officers, THP’s Critical Incident Response Team, members of the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department, and other local sheriff’s departments and rescue squads. Wood, the driver of the tractor-trailer, was not injured in the collision, and Schnepper has since been listed in stable condition.
